Interview with Lori Sjoberg
I am super thrilled and super excited that author Lori Sjoberg is here today. Lori is a fellow member of Agent Query Connect, a great online community for writers, and I was thrilled when she landed her deal with Kensington for her debut novel, Grave Intentions. I'm thrilled to be able to celebrate it's release with her, today! AND, extra special treat--Lori is offering a free copy of Grave Intentions to one lucky winner (see details below)!
This is part one of a five-part interview. Be sure to check out the other BRoP sites for the rest of the interview:
Part 2 @ Teresa's site - Thursday, January 17
Part 3 @ Emily's site - Friday, January 18
BRoP: How long have you been writing?
Lori: I started writing fiction around 2004. Before that, I wrote mostly in a professional capacity: Reports, business strategies, financial plans, stuff like that. Exciting, eh?
BRoP: Tell us about your early works—what was the first thing you ever wrote?
Lori: The first piece of fiction I ever wrote was a short work of Stephanie Plum fan fiction that will never see the light of day. (I think I still have a copy saved somewhere on a 3 ½” data cartridge.) It was horrible. Trust me on this.
BRoP: When did you first consider yourself a professional writer?
Lori: Wait, you mean I’m a professional writer now? Sweet!
BRoP: What genre do you write?
Lori: I write a mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy.
BRoP: What is your favorite theme/genre to write about?
Lori: I love writing stories about hope, and love, and couples struggling against impossible odds to achieve their happily ever afters. They might be grim reapers, or vampires, or some other creature that goes bump in the night, but the central theme is one of triumph over adversity.
BRoP: What format is your book available in (print, e-book, audio book, etc.)?

After graduating from the University of Central Florida, Lori spent over a decade working in the fun-filled worlds of retail management, financial planning, and insurance. The writing bug bit a few years later. After completing her first manuscript, she joined the Romance Writers of America and Central Florida Romance Writers. Now she exercises the analytical half of her brain at work, and the creative half writing paranormal romance. When she’s not doing either one of those, she’s usually spending time with her husband and children of the four-legged variety.
