Old Book Monday - September 17

Quite a few book bloggers participate in a weekly meme in which they share delicious and mouth-watering pictures of the new books they have recently received. I love strolling through the blogosphere and checking out these pictures. I don’t buy a lot of new books but realized I could still participate by sharing pictures of what I do buy a lot of—OLD books. Hence, “Old Book Mondays.”

This week’s “Old Book Monday” contains an update... on my Books-A-Million post!

You may remember a few months ago I posted about inheriting a crapload great many books from my Uncle Nelson. Well, I finally finished going through the THIRTY boxes worth that were left over after my sister had taken the ones she wanted. Here's the ones I decided to keep:

This looks manageable, right? I mean, these are all classics and I've read many some a few of these already--Jane Eyre, Bleak House, Moll Flanders. Maybe I'll start with the Dicken's pile...it's the smallest:

What's sad is that despite the fact I really like Dickens and have read many of his books, I apparently have not even made a dent in reading his body of work. Of course, it's all a matter of perspective, because this is the Henry James pile(s):

I haven't read any of these before so this is going to take a while to get through. Of course, then there's the Trollope pile(s):

Yes, all four stacks are (nothing but) Trollope. I've wanted to read Trollope for a very long time, partly because he was one of my Uncle's favorite authors and partly because I love his approach to writing. Trollope apparently wrote by setting himself a daily word count. If he finished writing a novel and hadn't yet reached is word count, he supposedly just grabbed another piece of paper and started a new story. Man, I sure would love to be able to write like that!
