Artist Shelby Robinson has created another masterpiece that perfectly captures the essence of the book. Jonah. Irene. Tarot Cards. Endless Wheat fields. What on earth is this book about?

Well, here's the back cover blurb:

How far would you go to get your life back?

Stuck on an island in the afterlife encircled by fire and hunted by shadows bent on trapping them there forever, Irene and Andras struggle to hold onto the last vestiges of their physical selves, without which they can never return to the land of the living. But it’s not just external forces they’ll have to fight as the pair grow to realize they have different goals. Irene still clings to the hope that she can somehow return to her old life—the one she had before she died—while Andras would be only too glad to embrace oblivion.

Meanwhile, Jonah, worried about Irene, desperately searches for a way to cross over to the other side, even if doing so means his death. His crossing over, however, is the one thing that could destroy Irene’s chances of returning home.

Too many obstacles, too many people to save, and the thing Irene most desperately wants—to return to her old life—seems farther away than ever. Only one thing is clear: moving on will require making a terrible sacrifice.

Yes! It's the return of Jonah! I suspect that is going to make a lot of people very happy :-) I really love that kid; he weaseled his way under my skin during the writing of Hereafter. Did you know, he was supposed to be just a one-line walk-on part - he would tell Irene she was dead and then that was it. Somehow, he ended up the co-host of the show, though. In the first two books, we only get to see Jonah through Irene's eyes. In Whereafter, Jonah finally gets to speak for himself - and he has a LOT to say. :-)

So, what do you all think? I'm so excited about this cover - I love it! I had seen a picture of the male cover model, Justin, ages ago on Shelby's website and knew he was my Jonah. I was so thrilled when it turned out he was available and interested in posing for this cover.

I desperately want to show you all the paperback cover as well, but the file is being difficult at the moment. I know the picture looks a little pixelated and messy. Sorry about that - working on figuring out why it's not loading properly. However, the important part - the butterfly on the spine - is clearly visible and that's what matters. You've all caught on to the fact that the symbol at the bottom of the spine changes with each book, right? And that the symbol is always something critically important to the book and afterlife mythology, right? RIGHT? :-) Layout artist Jennifer Stolzer always manages to find the perfect representation for each spine and she did a great job with this one - I love the butterfly she found!

I am a "cover girl" and I love the cover. What do the cards say? :-)

They are Tarot cards - most are unreadable, but the one that is most prominent is "Death" (of course  ).

Congratulations! It looks great! Jonah is a tad handsomer/cooler than I had pictured him, but that's the way of book covers!

I can't really answer that without giving spoilers :-) There are things I want to say but I will bite my tongue until after the book comes out :P
