Top Ten Tuesday: Sequels in my TBR pile

Top Ten Tuesday is a great meme created by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish that combines top ten lists and books. She’s come up with a great list of weekly discussion topics and I hope you’ll join in the discussion by commenting on this post or some of the other ones (you can find the list of participating blogs in this week's Top Ten Tuesday post on her site).

This week’s topic is Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait to Get My Hands On.

Unfortunately, I had to tweak this topic a bit as in many cases, I have not yet read the first book, let alone the sequel. So my list this week, in no particular order, is “Top Ten Books On My TBR Pile That Have Sequels.”

1. Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett
Okay, technically this is not a sequel, it’s one of a series, but I’m sneaking this in here anyway. I am a huge fan of the Discworld books and I’m so excited to get my hands on this next installment. This book is at the top of my TBR pile so I had to include it here.

2. The Long Earth and The Long War by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter
I love alternate/multiple universe stories and I love Terry Pratchett so how could I not be intrigued when my two favorite things came together? I’ve been dying to read The Long Earth since it was first announced and I hope to get to it by the end of the year.

3. Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
Another book that’s been on my TBR list for a while. I was thrilled when I heard there was a sequel. Yay, more ghostly goodness!

4. The Cousin’s War Series by Phillipa Gregory (The White Queen, The Red Queen, The Lady of the Rivers, The Kingmaker's Daughter, The White Princess)
I’m a big fan of Phillipa Gregory’s historical fiction (especially The Constant Princess) and I love stories of the Plantagenets, so I’m very excited to read Gregory’s take on the War of the Roses. I haven’t read any of these books and there are actually five books in this series now. I need to get crackin’.

5. Touch of Seduction Series by Mia Marlowe (Touch of a Thief, Touch of a Rogue, Touch of a Scoundrel)

Historical, paranormal romance? Uh…yes, please!

6. Love by Numbers by Sarah MacLean (Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, Ten Ways to be Adored When Landing a Lord, Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke’s Heart)
If the above didn’t clue you in, I love historical romance and this series sounds adorable—plus I just love the titles!

7. Pyramid Waltz and For Want of a Fiend by Barbara Ann Wright
I’ve been dying to read these two for a while. And now I hear there’s a third one coming out ::sob:: I need to read faster!

8. Jaguar Hope by T.W. Fendley
Okay, here is one where I actually have read the first book (Zero Time)! Technically, Jaguar Hope is a prequel, but I’m still including it on this list since it came out AFTER Zero Time. I loved Zero Time and am DYING to read Jaguar Hope to find out more about the events between the prologue of Zero Time and the main story.

9. Wild Cards Series by George R. R. Martin
I heard Melinda Snodgrass speak at a SF/F convention last year and she mentioned this series (which she worked on with GRRM) and I’ve been dying to read it ever since. I hope it’s as good as the blurb makes it sound, oh I do so hope!

10. Cobweb Bride Trilogy by Vera Nazarian (Cobweb Bride, Cobweb Empire, Cobweb Forest)
I actually discovered this series during last week’s TTT and I immediately added it to my TBR list. I love myth retellings and this book sounds incredibly unique and different—a bride for death? Oh yeah, this one sounds amazing. I can’t wait!

And there you have it! What do you think of my list—any surprises? What about you—what are the sequels that you're looking forward to?

LOL - I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't read Anna Dressed in Blood. It's been on my TBR list so long, I feel guilty every time I log into Goodreads! :-)
